Without a doubt, the focal point of a room is represented by the chandelier, an apparently obvious piece of furniture but which is actually essential to give a strong personality to an interior. Alone, it is able to define spaces, lights and shadows, entire atmospheres and styles. Choosing such an important light source is not simple, both technically and aesthetically. The latest and varied design proposals come to the rescue, discovering exotic and floral worlds, magnetic suspension structures, suggestive designs, highly customizable modular systems, and much more. Let’s explore together the latest news that inspire, each in its own way, a new idea of light: avant-garde and never common.
1 – CUSTOMIZABLE LIGHT
Kiki is a modular chandelier by Contardi, available in wall, table, and suspension versions. Thanks to the tone-on-tone or contrasting fabric cable with the structure, it allows the creation of systems and designs on walls. In the suspension version, it enables the creation of dramatic clusters (in various sizes). It is available with a metal structure in satin gold nickel, brushed bronze-nickel, anthracite finishes, and an opal white glass diffuser.

2 – GLASS REFLECTIONS
The suggestive chandelier Lumen by Venini is a new creation based on an original project by Gio Ponti from the 1940s. This suspension chandelier is composed of a central metal arm with an undulating silhouette that holds colored glass diffusers in conical or square shapes, directing them alternately up and down. It is available with three or five lights and in multicolor or monochrome Talpa, Paglierino, or Rosso versions.

3 – JAPANESE INSPIRATION
Fiam Italia presents the Tau lamp by Ryosuke Fukusada. The project is inspired by the rare Japanese flower Sankayou, known for its petals that become transparent when exposed to dew in low temperature and high humidity conditions. The three oval glass plates (smoked or bronze) are shaped to create soft three-dimensional curves; the structure is in metal with a Burnished Brass finish.

4 – DISTINCTIVE STYLE
Luppiter is the distinctive chandelier designed by Marco Zito for Masiero, with a painted metal frame with a galvanized metal or Alabaster shade and sphere. Featuring LED lighting, it has a line that recalls the timeless lines of vintage design, contextualized to contemporary aesthetics.

5 – MAGNETIC SUSPENSION
Magnetico Pendant is Filotto‘s solution designed to illuminate convivial spaces, concentration zones, or environments where a more intimate and subdued atmosphere is desired. It consists of a ceiling rose, a coordinated color 1.5-meter cable, a metal ball, and an E27 socket. The socket and the ball, thanks to a play of magnetism, allow the solution to be dynamic and versatile according to one’s preferences. It can be further customized with a Filotto bulb and is available in 8 colors: White, Cream, Yellow, Orange, Red, Green, Gray, and Black.

6 – VINTAGE COLORS
At MDW 2024, Nemo Lighting presented the Lorosae lamp, originally conceived by Álvaro Siza in 1999 for his personal exhibition at the iconic Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza. The translucent glass diffuser is available in three sizes and five new finishes: jasmine white, ocean blue, sorrento yellow, sicilian orange, and rosemary green. The inner part of the diffuser, in white color, preserves the natural light color.

7 – LUMINOUS PLANET
Meridies is the chandelier by iDOGI in blown glass and transparent crystal, inspired by the Earth and its meridians. This composition is formed by ornamental elements typical of Venetian artistic tradition, such as Rigadin worked cups, bossette, leaves, and crooks (curling elements). All strictly custom-made according to the client’s requests. Meridies, in a monumental double-globe version, is placed in the main hall of the Old War Office in London.

8 – DISTINCTIVE FORMS
The design of Otto Pendant by Servomuto recalls the sci-fi imagination of the late sixties and early seventies, inspired by the illustrations of the time of UFOs and distant universes. It is a light suspension, composed of an upper hat covered in Rubelli bouclé fabric or Dedar fabric, which is complemented by an inverted truncated cone made of pongé strips. The lamps are entirely hand-sewn and come in nine different color variants. The cotton linings are tone-on-tone with the hat.

9 – PLAY OF LIGHTS
Nebra by a·emotional light features a linear design with horizontal proportions. The lamp combines two different types of lighting: direct lighting projecting from above and a second indirect and diffused ambient lighting. It consists of a sequence of pieces of constant height and varying length, making it flexible and easy to combine in series. It is made of painted stainless steel and is available in beige and taupe variants.

10 – MEMORABLE STRUCTURE
Among the 2024 novelties by Riflessi, the new Allegra family stands out. It recalls the imagery of illustrations and translates into 3D the creative freedom born from a freehand sketch, made concrete by the meeting of thin shaped metal profiles obtained through laser cutting. The bulbs are transparent or (on request) colored tobacco or smoked; the fabric cables are black or gold. The model can be declined in 6 color variants: graphite, champagne, bronze, ruby, olive, and teal.
