Home ideas from design week

The house at the center of everything: many proposals for furnishing and decorating it presented during the design week in Milan. From furniture to textiles, in the name of productive excellence and sartorial craftsmanship.

Visiting showrooms, museums, laboratories and ancient villas – during the MDW they were places of excellence and perfect settings for scenographic installations – the conception of the house as a “blank page” emerged more than ever. To be designed and personalized, choosing furnishings, accessories, lighting projects and a vast range of accessories with a view increasingly aimed at conscious and reasoned choices. In the name of a desire to share, of the desire to surround oneself with things that are not only beautiful to look at, but also practical and functional, rediscovering simple, natural, recyclable materials together with the regenerating power of color in its most diverse nuances.

ARCLINEA

The kitchen, which in recent years has become the most studied and designed room in the home to welcome and offer convivial moments, was the true protagonist of the events organized by Arclinea. The company, drawing on its almost century-old know-how, has proposed the new Proxima kitchen model, designed by Antonio Citterio. High-performance and hyper-equipped, it integrates large appliances within new shapes while new details, such as the long handles along the entire perimeter of the island and the column, make it even more functional and practical.

Versatile in different configurations and super compact, it is also equipped with the Inverso column module which, thanks to a mechanism, allows the internal part of the furniture to rotate outwards. Perfect solution to make the kitchen and living area communicate. All of this is completed by the new Hortus element, a mobile device for the hydroponic cultivation of aromatic herbs and vegetables controlled by software, for cooking in complete freedom using your own zero-mile vegetables.

LE CREUSET

Staying in the kitchen, another historic company founded in 1925 has animated the rooms of its Milanese showroom with a riot of unexpected and pleasant scents, colors and color combinations. Developing a personal interpretation of the theme chosen for the Fuorisalone edition – Materia Natura – Le Creuset presented the new peach color, and declined the Rhône, cherry, orange and nectar shades among new products and iconic pieces of the brand. One above all: his famous cocotte pots in vitrified cast iron, sold all over the world.

NATALIA CRIADO

The kitchen, in this case in Osvaldo Borsani’s historic villa in Varedo in Brianza, was the perfect setting for the collections presented by Natalia Criado within the project curated by Alcova. The Colombian designer, with a past as a goldsmith and now resident in Milan, exhibited her table accessories with the “La Cocina” display. What could be simple everyday objects, such as vases, bowls, cups and trays, have been interpreted as collectible design pieces, combining metals with stones and crystals with a new aesthetic connotation.

ITALAMP

Lots of colour, available in highly decorative configurations, also in the new Galatea collection by Italamp in collaboration with studio Mamo. In the new gioiAtelier showroom, inaugurated in partnership with Capital Collection near Corso Como and Gae Aulenti, the company proposed this suspension lamp composed of a structure in satin silver and brushed chrome finish, which keeps the composition of carved crystal lampshades suspended . In a perfect balance of volumes, the crystal glasses in the colors Soft Red, Mustard and Soft Blu once again show Italamp’s craftsmanship in creating elegant and timeless collections.

NEMO LIGHTING

Another lighting project, presented with a scenographic setup curated by Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva, is the one proposed by NEMO Lighting. This is the LBB01 lamp that Lina Bo Bardi designed in 1950 for her Casa de Vidro, a symbolic project of modernist Brazilian architecture. In the new edition of this classic design model, the pendant lamp is composed of a stem on which the black aluminum diffusers are fixed, which can be adjusted as desired to have a personalized light point. Essential design expressed with an elegant geometry has made this model still so current and refined today.

MUUTO

Among the many furnishing proposals presented during the Milan design week, the Danish brand Muuto recorded record numbers of visits to its event-installation. Designed inside an ancient building in Brera, it recreated the environments of an intimate and welcoming home, furnishing it with a mix of new furniture and iconic pieces. All chosen based on the criterion of functionality, combined with a strong decorative component with intense and mellow colours. Among the new features, the Earnest extendable table, a modern interpretation of the classic Scandinavian wooden model. Made of FSC certified solid oak, it has sculptural legs, a clear profile, and with a simple gesture it extends from 8 to 12 seats.

JAIPUR RUGS

Moving from the world of furniture to that of textiles, the Indian company Jaipur Rugs, specialized in the creation of handmade rugs, presented its new collection born from an interesting collaboration. In fact, by combining his artisanal experience with the excellence of the textile manufacturing of Vimar1991, now part of the Chanel textile supply chain, he proposed the Couture Collection. It is made up of hand-woven carpets using the Indo-Nepali method where each knot is tied line by line with the use of a rod, enhancing the beauty of the designs. All knots are carefully stacked, suggesting three-dimensionality to the patterns. With this collection the yarns, used for haute couture, have been worked to create carpets that combine fashion and design for contemporary interiors.

ILLARIPUNA

Attention to detail and craftsmanship also in the textile proposals of the Illaripuna brand, presented within the collective project Design Variations by Moscapartners. Founded by Magdalena Sanchéz de Bustamante, the brand’s mission is to protect and promote Argentine artisanal textile products, made by indigenous peoples who live in the most remote regions of the country. Carpets, poufs, cushions and everything that can be used to give an ethnic touch to the home, made even more precious by ancient workmanship all done by hand.

BITOSSI CERAMICHE

The installation “On Slowness” was born from another collaboration – in this case between two Italian production companies – inside the Weekend Max Mara boutique in Milan. The fashion group, in fact, offered its space to Bitossi Ceramiche to display a careful selection of products, which explore the infinite artisanal solutions of ceramics and colored pigments. Among these, both the novelties for the Salone del Mobile 2024 created by Patricia Urquiola, Zaven and Objects of Common Interest, and a selection of contemporary Bitossi pieces, signed by designers such as Muller Van Severen, Faye TooGood, Max Lamb and Formafantasma.
