Milan Design Week 2024 – City Centre

The city of Milan, from April 15 to 21, 2024, is once again enriched with events, exhibitions, new collections, and installations spread throughout the city center. Ideas and projects are embraced within showrooms and historic locations, such as the well-known headquarters of the University of Milan, one of the first Renaissance buildings in Milan and now a meeting point for people of all ages and tastes.

Design Week is thus an opportunity for knowledge and unity between what has been and what will be: during this period, the historic urban heritage meets the innovations of today and tomorrow. The Centro district includes: Piazza San Babila, Via Durini, Corso Monforte, Corso Europa, Via Larga, and Via Manzoni, extending to the adjacent areas near the Brera and 5Vie districts. It is the main destination for local visitors, easily accessible via public transport: metro, tram, or bus.

WHAT TO SEE

ALBED – new collections exhibition
Albed presents the new “Next Round” collection by Simone Micheli and the free-access exhibition “Kodama, The Spirit of the Forest” in its showroom. The exhibition reveals the concept and creation phases of a monumental sculpture designed by Japanese star architect Kengo Kuma.

AMAZON, “THE AMAZING WALK” – exhibition
As part of the Interni Cross Vision event, Amazon presents the installation “The Amazing Walk” by MAD Architects. Visitors have the opportunity to walk on a path suspended over water, symbolically representing customers’ exploration journey of products of their interest.

BROSS – new collection
On display, the new collections of seats and accessories in the Bross showroom, designed by the architect Marco Zito, Victor Vasilev and the designer Marco Spatti, among sophisticated wooden and upholstered details dedicated to residential and contract spaces.

CALIA – new collection
Calia Italia, founded in Matera in 1965, presents new sofa collections, modular and with retractable seats and reclining headrests, home cinema sofas, armchairs, and poufs for relaxation in its new flagship store.

CIMENTO – new collection exhibition
Cimento participates in Cross Vision, the Interni event. Patricia Urquiola designs for CAMENTO® a collection of furniture and accessories (includes tables, seats, consoles, coffee and side tables, stools, bookcases, mirrors and vases) that embodies elegance and innovation in the world of contemporary design.

CONTARDI LIGHTING – new collection
Contardi Lighting continues its research by offering new proposals and presents the expansion of the Bianca collection by Dainelli Studio. The result is an exhibition of products that confirm Contardi’s style that escapes conventional classifications.

CONTE – new collection
The brand presents “In the Mood for Love”, signed by Mauro Lipparini: a journey into the consonance of harmonious contrasts, from the opacity of leather and wood to the brilliance of glass, marble and material metals. The meeting between excellent craftsmanship and contemporary design gives life to a scenario with an elegant and seductive tone: a collection of furniture with an exclusive, enveloping and timeless profile.

DESIGN SINGAPORE COUNCIL, “FUTURE IMPACT 2” – exhibition
Future Impact 2: Singapore designers bring to life an innovative era of technology-driven sustainable design. From furniture that absorbs carbon dioxide to ceramics that transfer heat, seven cutting-edge designers experiment with technology, materiality and production.

DOPPIA FIRMA – exhibition
Fifteen iconic objects created specifically for Doppia Firma, available in a wide selection of types, shapes and materials, are exhibited at Villa Mozart, a scenographic and highly refined treasure chest from the Thirties in the heart of the city, which hosts “Doppia Firma. Dialogues between design thinking and high craftsmanship”.

ENTO – new collection
Previewed at Milan Design Week 2024, the new Xū collections by the Neri&Hu studio and Stelo by Davide Diliberto. Two projects designed to fit into contexts with different styles, confirming the Ento concept, which identifies the handle as a precious resource to define the personality of a space in a discreet way.

FOSCARINI, “HABITUS” – new collection
HABITUS is an experimental project with Andrea Anastasio together with Arun Jothi and Natalie Frost, creatives of Amal. HABITUS is pure research, in which Foscarini gives itself the opportunity to explore different directions in the world of light, without worrying about the limits naturally imposed by mass production.

GERVASONI – new collection
The company will present the new 2024 indoor and outdoor collections, the result of its continuous search for innovation and high-end design. The Ghost collection by Paola Navone, the most iconic of the brand, will celebrate its 20 years with an exclusive set-up in Via Durini 7 curated by Beatrice Rossetti Studio and OTTO Studio and with the introduction of new products to the collection.

HOPERAPERTA – exhibition
Hoperaperta presents “Mimesis. Form and Image”, indicates a process of identification, a symbiotic action between two image-forms of different nature, the exhibition therefore proposes a comparison on these issues between the artists and architects invited to exhibit. It also involves the Institute of Technology in New York, Department of Architecture and Design.

IRIS CERAMICA GROUP – exhibition
The international studio Zaha Hadid Design has interpreted the natural ceramic slabs of Iris Ceramica Group, giving life to the installation “Poesis Materiae”, which amazes with its originality, bringing the material to the center of the scene. Here, ceramics are a real and virtual sensorial experience: an immersive journey through the three floors of the new ICG Gallery.

LA DOUBLEJ – new collection exhibition
The new Solar home collection by La DoubleJ celebrates spring and our primary source of energy: the sun. An unprecedented installation signed by the artist Max Siedentopf enhances the collection and its spirit of rebirth.

MAISTRI – new collection
Historic kitchen brand, Maistri was acquired in 2012 by Asso Spa, a company in the furniture sector which also includes minotticucine in its group. The latest K.table (“Kitchen Table”) innovations, the Arena Mass handle, and the Rim door are presented in the minotticucine showroom.

NABA, AMSA – exhibition
NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti with AMSA – Gruppo A2A present, as part of INTERNI Cross Vision, the installation “I am what I throw away”. An immersive experience in structural and architectural essentiality, to create a narrative dedicated to the themes of sustainability, sharing and mixing of knowledge.

No. 3 GIN – exhibition
No. 3 Gin participates in Cross Vision, the Interni exhibition-event. The No. 3 Gin installation, designed by Alessandra Baldereschi, consists of a spiral-shaped chandelier that redesigns everyday life with an almost fairy-tale style, giving life to the taste notes and a profile of flavours.

PALAZZO DELLE MERAVIGLIE – exhibition
Palazzo delle Meraviglie, the Wunderkammer curated by designer Katrin Herden with architect Alessandro Zarinelli of Studio MHZ. The ground floor of Alessandro Manzoni’s house museum hosts a collective exhibition of 5 international brands: Softhouse, Mamagreen, Pinton, Hommés Studio and Tapis Studio, Sohil.

RIFLESSI – new collection
On stage, the Fuorisalone event “PASSIONE MADE IN ITALY”. The new features are interpreted by fine woods, exclusive coverings and a family of seats, a new table and a range of lighting. The new RIFLESSI collections are inspired by the colors of the dawn, in the exclusive setup designed by Bruno Tarsia.

ROCA – exhibition
Roca also participates in Cross Vision, the Interni exhibition-event at the University of Milan. It presents an installation, inspired by the first electric tunnel oven, created in collaboration with Mario Cucinella Architects – SPARKING CHANGE.
